Campaign Spotlights

Lawrence “L.J.” Baker Jr.

“GMC is truly a part of my foundation. I continue to use the lessons, skills, and attributes learned at GMC to achieve success in my personal and professional life. We hope to contribute to a culture of servant leaders and inspire others to give back to GMC.” shared L.J., on why he chooses to give back.

That same passion for developing discipline and leadership skills L.J. Baker exuded as GMC Corps of Cadets Drill Team commander, which helped him guide the team to the national meet two years in a row, has been fully embraced by his wife, Clarinda “C.J.” Baker. It was also the impetus behind why the couple established the Old Capitol Guard Drill Team Commander’s Scholarship, to ensure the Corps of Cadets Drill Team and its traditions continue to shape future cadets.

GMC Junior College Alumnus (JC ’91) Lawrence “L.J.” Baker is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. He was the GMC 2020 Alumni Achievement Award Recipient and also serves as a GMC Foundation Trustee.

GMC Alumnus L.J. Baker Jr. (JC ’91) hopes to contribute to a culture of servant leaders through his gifts to the Georgia Military College Corps of Cadets.
